  6. Aliens at last have their own landing strip in the Nevada Desert - courtesy of
  7. the state.Route 375 has been officially christened The Extraterrestrial Highway
  8. - a nod to the areas reputation for otherworldly sightings, and a ploy to
  9. attract more terrestrial tourists. Four signs proclaiming the new status will
  10. go up along a desolate stretch of the road north-east of Las Vegas. "Of course
  11. they're going to be both horizontal and vertical so extraterrestrials can see
  12. them as they land," said Tom Tait of the Nevada Commission On Tourism. Governor
  13. Bob Miller suggested the signs be placed flat on the ground so that aliens can
  14. land on them. The road is near a top-secret air force range and runs through
  15. isolated desert long a mecca for UFO seekers. Stories are told of seeing
  16. spaceships travelling at warp speeds. The fact that these sightings are close
  17. to a base where experimental planes are said to be tested has only fed rumours
  18. that captured alien spaceships are being tested there. The government denies
  19. this.
